PRAYER IS THE MASTER KEY

“Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His face always” – 1st Chronicles 16 v 11 (NIV)

Prayer encompasses all aspects of the Holy Trinity. It is the spirit of man talking to God the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ His Son, through the power of the Holy Spirit. As the popular song goes; Jesus started and ended with prayer. There are many instances in the Bible where we are told Jesus prayed to the Father. In the same manner, Jesus repeatedly instructed His disciples to always watch and pray (Matthew 26 v 41, Mark 13 v 33).

The life of a true Christian should be filled constantly with prayers. We are told to rejoice always, pray without ceasing and to give thanks to God in everything (1stThessalonian vs 16-18). The idea of ceaseless prayer does not mean we should be on our knees all the time, rather, it is having our hearts constantly fixated on the Father. Our life and every aspect of it should be committed into His hands. No situation is too small or mundane to take to the Lord in prayer. We shouldn’t just pray about the big things, but even the things we consider may be trivial should not be ignored or overlooked.

Jesus Christ, whilst telling his disciples the parable of the persistent widow, urged on the need to always pray and not lose heart (Luke 18 v 1). As followers of Christ, we also ought to take serious heed and develop a disciplined life always carrying everything to the Lord in prayer. This attitude should become second nature to us. And when we pray, we should do this in faith, trusting that our Father, who is in Heaven, hears and will answer our cry. For with God, nothing is impossible for Him to do (Luke 1 v 37). Therefore, let us strive to make prayer a central and consistent aspect of our daily Christian life.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, prayer is the master key that can unlock the many mysteries of God to us as well as the promises that He has in store for us (Jeremiah 33 v3). The very God of yesterday who answered the prayers of Hannah, Joshua, David and Daniel is the same God of today who is willing and able to attend to all our supplications made to Him in prayers. And when you call out to Him, have this confidence that He will hear and answer anything we ask in accordance to His will (1st John 5 vs 14-15).

May the Spirit of the living God help and intercede on our behalf, that we may always pray in His will, having the assurance and peace that He will meet all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4 v 19).  May the Lord hear all our prayers and let our cries come unto Him. Amen.

God Bless You,

Pastor Tolu Ojo
